Marvelous Malang

Posted by no name at 10:18 PM
Malang Regency is located between two massive groups of mountains with Semeru, the highest mountain on Java, and the national park Bromo-Tengger to the east. The biggest attraction here must be the beautiful landscape, in addition there are some temples not far away known as the Singosari temples. They were built to honor the Singosari dynasty, the predecessors of the Majapahit kingdom. Candi Singosari, built for king Kertanegara, and Candi Sumberawan are both close to the Singosari village north of Malang. Candi Jago and Candi Kidal are both located in Tumpang, approximately 30 Km east of Malang, An easy way to Malang is by train or bus from Surabaya, which takes about two hours. From Malang you can for example travel further to Kediri over Batu. This road passes through some beautiful and changing scenery, passing volcanoes, rich farmland, hot springs, deep valleys and dense jungle. Along the coast south of Malang there are some popular beaches, actually they belong to the Malang district which stretches all the way south to the Indian ocean.

Malang city, about 90 km south of Surabaya, is a busy city with a population in excess of 850,000 people. Situated at an altitude of 450m and circled by attractive volcanoes, it is cool, tree-lined and much more tourist-friendly in all respects than Surabaya. Malang City is well-known as a industrial and trading city, education city, and tourism city. The city's commercial centre is the alun-alun to the south of Sungai Brantas, with the main shopping and market area along or near Jl. Agus Salim, which runs off the south side. Jl. Mojopahit runs across Sungai Brantas and links this commercial sector with the Tugu area to the north, in which most government offices are located.
Then, Malang City is a center for education ranging from basic school to higher education. Some schools, either of state or private ones, have international quality standard. Therefore, many students from all over Indonesia, even from abroad, prefer to continue their study in Malang because it guarantees the safety, climate, facility and quality of education.
The most attractive and evocative colonial area is Jl. Ijen, with renovated bungalows in wide, palm-lined boulevards. It's a rich and refined area, with fabulous iron railings that guard the privacy of the wealthy of the city. To get there, take microlet GL, AL, ADL (which goes along Jl. Ijen), or MM (along Jl. Kawi nearby). Museum Brawijaya is a military museum fronted by tanks and full of military memorabilia.
There are still many more that you can enjoy when you stay or visit Malang City. Welcome to Malang City and find your preferable choices to meet your comfort and satisfaction.
